What is Family Caregiving? It is the act of offering (usually) unpaid help and support to a family member who suffers from a physical, psychological, developmental or cognitive disability. It happens at different stages of life and involve family members with diverse relationships to the person receiving care. Family caregivers could discover that they just fall into the role of carer when they inherit a circumstance, most will find they didn’t choose to do so consciously.
The Expectant Caregiver can be any relative, but it is most likely a child or children who has a growing concern that, within the near future, a parent/ spouse or a friend will need more and more assistance and time.
When you start the caregiving process, what will your priorities be? Where do you start and how long time will you have. Are there important steps legally and financially and how will you take these decisions?
